Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Full Movie - The Storyline
Any doubts aimed at the anthology series were reconciled with the fact that Rogue One is vintage Star Wars repackaged in modern day. The storyline of the upcoming movie will climax within minutes of the opening events of A New Hope, an exciting prospect that could ultimately affect the way we rewatch Lucas's 1977 original. As with A New Hope, Gareth Edwards's movie will be set during the Galactic Civil War, which occurred around 19 years after the formation of the Galactic Empire. The stories are so closely linked, the opening crawl of Lucas's original even references events that will unfold in Rogue One.
Having a long-term respect for Mon Mothma and her leadership, Jyn is flattered to be asked to assist in a cause that would bring unity to the rebellion - which was in complete disarray. Little did she know that her job in this uniting of kindred spirits would include putting her life at risk as a spy!
The first problem that production faced was in finding a way to describe this (and other future) films that do not overlap or integrate directly with the saga series of films.
Kathleen Kennedy (tagged to head the entire project) explained that these films are “stand alone” spin-offs; spin-offs is by far a misleading description, by the way. Lucasfilm settled on calling the category “anthologies”.
In May 2014, Gareth Edwards was named as Director for Rogue One. His response was like a classic Star Wars fan: “Ever since I saw Star Wars I knew exactly what I wanted to do for the rest of my life - join the Rebel Alliance! I could not be more excited and honored to go on this mission with Lucasfilm." One of the issues that Edwards’ insisted on making clear from the beginning is that Rogue One is not a pure “good versus evil” film; instead it’s the story of how “good guys are bad and bad guys are good”.
Another element of the movie that departs from the saga series is seen in the character, Chirrut Imwe, the blind man who is devoted to the Jedi ways and becomes a formidable opponent to the Empires best soldiers in spite of the fact that he’ll never be a Jedi warrior. As Edwards said in one interview, “This idea that magical beings are going to come and save us is going away, and it's up to normal, everyday people to take a stand to stop evil from dominating the world."
Perhaps, the most enjoyable character is the unflappable K-2SO. He’s everything that C-P30 is not. As Edwards’ describes him, "He doesn't give a shit about what you think. He doesn't fully check himself before he says things and does things. He just speaks the truth."
